A magnificent, heavy and large antique copper daubiere made in France. Based on the surface finish, style and seams, this piece was likely crafted in the late 1800s or early 1900s. It does have dovetailed seams brazed with brass around the bottom and on one end, which is typically seen in pieces made prior to the 1900s, but the handles are a style I would expect to be seen on pieces made in the early 1900s. We have had it expertly restored for daily use, with a fresh lining of tin on the interior, and beautifully polished. The handles are brass, held by copper rivets. This is a heavy piece for its size, quite well made in keeping with typical European copper craftsmanship. There is a number "30" stamped into the lid and one end of the daubiere. The surface has a beautiful antique condition, with many tiny dings and marks that make it so lovely and full of character. The lid is original and fits perfectly. Daubieres are traditionally used for cooking stews and roasts in the oven, and this one is certainly in beautiful condition for daily use! A true antique French treasure!
6.5" high, 7.25" wide and 11" long. 15.5" long from handle to handle, and approximately 8" high from base of daubiere to top of handle on lid.
