A perfectly gorgeous little antique copper box with a hinged lid, all hammered and engraved with a beautiful design. I am left clueless as to it's country of origin, as I have never seen another piece like this. It is quite heavy, and clearly very old. It could possibly have been intended as a jewelry box, or for small cigars (the former owner guessed), but I thought it would make a very cool salt cellar for your kitchen countertop. If you wish to use it as a salt cellar, it will need to be lined with a food safe coating of tin, so the salt does not corrode the interior. We can easily get this done for you before shipping the piece! Just inquire. The additional cost for tinning and and expert polishing is $50.
2.5" high and 4.25" wide.
