A coquemar is a French vessel for heating water or keeping it warm, though a true coquemar would traditionally stand on three feet. This beautiful handmade jug could also be a coffee or chocolate pot, or a water pitcher. It is clearly hand made, with a hand hammered finish, beautiful hand cut, brass-brazed dovetailed seams and copper rivets. It has been expertly restored for everyday use and re-lined with food safe tin. Very heavy and sturdy. C. 1880-1920.
Approximately 9" high including lid, and approximately 9" wide including side handle.
